About the Howard County Memory Project
The Howard County Digitization Consortium was formed in 2002 by the Kokomo-Howard County Public Library, the Greentown Public Library, and the Howard County Historical Society who shared an interest in preserving local historical materials and in making the materials available remotely. This team secured a Library Services Technology Act (LSTA) grant in the summer of 2002 to digitize all available Howard County Indiana high school yearbooks from 1901-1950.
The project was a huge success, and the Kokomo-Howard County Public Library has continued the project with volunteers and part-time staff. Today over 180 yearbooks, numbering over 20,000 images, are available online.
Within the Howard County Memory Project refurbished website, you will find additional items digitized especially for genealogy and local history researchers. We will be continuing to add items of interest and we hope you will check back often as this site evolves daily!
